Welcome to the Physics Department. Our site has information on courses available in Physics, homework exercises and revision material at all levels. Additionally, we have advice on careers options. What is Physics?
    
Physics is an experimental science creating theories that are tested against observations. Broadly, it is the general scientific analysis of nature, with a goal of understanding how the universe behaves.

Physics is one of the oldest academic disciplines. It emerged as a modern science in the 17th century and through its modern subfield of astronomy, it may be the oldest of all.

What do people who study Physics do?

• Work in the oil industry as apprentices, technicians,  geophysicists and geologists.
• Design and fabricate electronic and optical devices
• Be a health/radiation physicist/technician in a hospital
• Become a medical doctor/surgeon
• Nuclear Scientist/ Engineer 
• Optometrist
• Audio Specialist
• Industrial Technologist/Engineer
• Be an electrician or mechanic
• Serve in defence projects
• Be a Patent expert
• Develop a career in Meteorology
