Coastal sand dunes field work

Final report

Using the data which you collected at St Cyrus beach, write a report which answers the following question:

“Does the sand dune system at St Cyrus display the characteristics you would expect of a typical psammosere?”

You must discuss both the sand dune profile and the vegetation succession to fully answer this question.

A typical report should be written following the format outlined below:

• Introduction- background information on psammoseres

• Fieldwork methods and techniques (including the equipment used)

• Data collected – you can use your record sheet or download a new one from the shared area.

• Presentation and analysis of the data – this should include a variety of data presentation techniques. Examples are on the back of your fieldwork sheets. In the analysis section you should make a case for or against the question backing up your decision with hard facts and evidence from your fieldwork data.

• Conclusion

• Bibliography

Your report should not exceed 7 sides and 800 words and must be finished by the end of term.
